A new house, ready for its first upgrade
Skye Canyon is one of the valley’s newer master-planned communities, built out since the mid-2010s in the far northwest, along US 95 near the turnoff for Kyle Canyon Road and Mount Charleston. Most homes are recent production builds with sensible floor plans and the cabinet package that came with them.
That makes the first project here different from a remodel. Nothing is worn out. The question is what the house is missing now that you’ve lived in it for a season: somewhere for the gear, a closet that works, a pantry that holds a real grocery run. We usually start with those rooms and leave the kitchen for later, or add to it rather than tear it out.
Built for people who head outside
Living this close to trails and the mountains tends to fill a garage fast. The cabinetry that helps most:
- A garage gear wall. Tall lockers for bikes, helmets and packs, a workbench with drawers, and closed cabinets that keep dust and sun off camping equipment. Raised on legs or mounted off the floor so they clear a hosed-down slab.
- A mudroom at the garage door. A bench, boot cubbies, hooks and a charging drawer, so dirt and backpacks stop at the entry instead of the kitchen island.
- A laundry room that works. Folding counter, pull-out hampers, a hanging rod for wet gear, and uppers for detergent and sports uniforms.
- Closets beyond wire shelving. Drawers, adjustable hanging and lighting in the primary closet, and simple built-ins in kids’ rooms that grow with them.
Making it look like your house
New neighborhoods share floor plans, so personal touches carry more weight. A walnut or rift-oak built-in in the great room, a coffee or beverage station beside the kitchen, or a desk wall in the loft makes a production home feel custom without a renovation. If you’re adding to the builder kitchen, we can build a pantry wall, a larger island or uppers that run to the ceiling, and design them to sit well next to what’s staying.
Desert notes for a new build
The northwest valley swings from scorching summer afternoons to cold winter nights, and the air stays dry through all of it. We use engineered panels for wide doors so they hold their shape, coat hidden faces too, and choose garage finishes for heat and dust. Laundry and utility sinks get wipe-clean interiors because the water here leaves a crust on anything left damp.

Before you call.
Our home is brand new. Is it too soon to add custom cabinetry?
No. Many owners start right after moving in, once they know how the house really gets used. Adding garage, mudroom or closet cabinetry doesn't touch the builder's kitchen, so you can do the rooms that matter most first.
Can new cabinets match the builder cabinets we're keeping?
Sometimes closely, sometimes not, since builder finishes vary by lot and year. When an exact match isn't realistic, we design the new pieces as a deliberate contrast, like a wood mudroom beside a painted kitchen, so it looks planned.
Will garage cabinets hold up to Las Vegas summers?
They need to be specified for it. Garages here get very hot, so we choose materials and finishes for heat and dust, raise the cabinets off the slab, and plan closed storage for anything that shouldn't sit in the sun.
Does adding cabinets affect my builder warranty?
Check your builder's warranty terms before work starts, since each builder words them differently. Most garage, closet and mudroom projects mount to existing walls without moving plumbing or wiring, and if yours would involve either, we'll point it out at the design visit.
How far is your shop from Skye Canyon?
Our factory is in North Las Vegas, about 25 minutes away. Both sit on the north side of the valley, so design visits and follow-up trips are short.
